delays, but inspiration too...

Have just gone back to work after a lovely 3 week break.  I have been busy visiting friends and catching up on living, not a lot of painting...but a couple of sketches, from life, that I did on the train to London and back.  I have been thinking about portraiture for a while now, perhaps a new subject will be a good thing.  Beautiful crinkley old faces of patients at work, and dear friends, and strangers all inspire me.  I felt brave to draw people on the train, without  permission, without caring if the person next to me saw what I was doing.  It focused my attention.  Visited the protrait gallery in trafaguar square whilst in London and got a David Hockney portraits book.  Wish I had been at that exhibition.  Love his pilosophy.  Loving the new sketchbook I treated myself to wilst in Edinburgh, expensive but so worth it.

not failure yet... honest

Well I have done one, not entirely happy with it, but no daylight left in which to photograph it so I will post it tomorrow.  Along with another as yet uncreated painting... I have motivation at least, and that was the aim!

Not sure it was worth the delay, although I like it better than I did yesterday.

Starting...

To get this up and running then I thought I would post my most recent painting, of some allotments near where I used to live.  Not entirely sure how sucessfull it is but I enjoyed doing it - I guess regular practice can only have a positive impact.
